  Auguste LeComte founded Gold Medal Bakery from the basement of his house in Fall River, MA. in 1912. He envisioned a need for a local baker whose principles stood on honesty, integrity and good will. Once he combined those practices with bread production, using only the best ingredients, the results were outstanding. Today, the LeComtes are in their third generation of producing quality baked products and training the fourth generation to maintain the same commitment to excellence. Although technology and automation has replaced earlier methods of production, the principles of the Company remain the same as that of the founder "Gus Lecomte" |
  Our First PlantIn 1969, we built a new ultra modern, single floor, 110,000 square foot plant where we continue to produce the highest quality bread, rolls, and english muffins.  We needed a bridge...In 1990, we purchased, renovated, and connected - via a 500 foot enclosed cooling bridge - a 141,000 square foot plant. This facility houses our corporate sales office, packaging, shipping, and transportation departments.  InnovationsIn 2000, we substantially increased our production capabilities by investing in a new, dual high-speed bread and roll line. Today Gold Medal Bakery is well on it's way to becoming one of the largest, independent, owner-operated bakeries in the country. Today Gold Medal Bakery produces and delivers products across several northeastern states from the tip of Maine to southern New Jersey . A modern fleet of tractor trailers have replaced the horse and buggy and state-of-the-art equipment has replaced the single oven in the basement of Auguste's house in Fall River. However the Company's philosophy remains the same and that of it's founder stated in 1912. |
